Vase
Feb, 2024
Materials: 22-Gauge Steel Sheet, Black Patina, Wax

Media: Band Saw, Plasma Cutting Torch, Spot Welder
What began as an exploration of various metalworking techniques culminated into a sculptural piece for displaying plants. With a curvy frame and matte black finishing, the object evokes the appearance of a shadow being cast from a bottle. The form taking inspiration from a silhouette elevates the vase into an elegant piece of sculpture.
Starting from a single rectangular sheet, I cut out the "legs" still attached and experimented with different forms the sheet can achieve. The large opening at the top and the small slit on the side allow the plant to rest naturally .
